Description:
Askina® Calgitrol® Ag+ is a wound dressing that combines antimicrobial silver with reinforcing cellulose fibers to manage wound infection
and high exudate. The dressing promotes healing in a moist environment.
When applied, Askina® Calgitrol® Ag+ reacts by forming a gel on contact with wound exudate.
The formed gel traps, locks, and kills bacteria away from the wound bed.
It contains encapsulated nanoparticles of ionic silver, embedded in the reinforcing cellulose fiber.
The nanoparticles act as a reservoir for ionic silver and are gradually released upon contact with wound fluid,
to kill bacteria and microorganisms in the dressing.
Application:
Under the supervision of a healthcare professional, Askina® Calgitrol® Ag+ antimicrobial wound dressings can be used for:
Moderately to heavily exuding wounds
Chronic wounds, e.g., leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, and diabetic ulcers
Surgical wounds, e.g., postoperative wounds
Traumatic wounds, e.g., abrasions and lacerations
Partial thickness burns
If necessary, dressings can be used together with a suitable moisture-retaining secondary dressing to keep the product in place
and/or under compression.
